Low Calorie HEYTEA Drinks

7 minute read · Guide

The HEYTEA board runs from 30 calories to 560 in the same 16 oz cup. That is a 530 calorie spread inside one menu, which means the drink you pick matters far more here than it does at a chain where everything lands in the same band.

Most calorie guides for bubble tea end at the same unhelpful place: order a plain tea. It is true, and it also ignores that almost nobody walks into a tea shop wanting hot water and leaves. The more useful question is which of the 47 drinks are genuinely light, and what you can do to a drink you actually want.

14 drinks sit at or under 150 calories. 9 sit at or under 100. Every one of them is listed below with its price, because a light drink that costs $9.99 is a different proposition from one that costs $6.49.

HEYTEA drinks at or under 150 calories, at 100 percent sugar and the standard 16 oz size, before toppings.

Two things stand out. Nearly every drink here is a fruit tea or a plain brewed tea, and the prices are clustered at the cheaper end of the board. The lightest drinks at HEYTEA are also among the cheapest, which is not true at every chain.

Why These Drinks Are Light and Others Are Not

Three things drive the calorie count on this menu, and knowing them lets you predict where a drink lands without looking it up.

Milk is the biggest. It adds somewhere between 100 and 180 calories depending on the build. Jasmine Tea at 30 calories becomes Jasmine Latte at 140 once milk goes in, over the same tea. That single ingredient is the difference between a drink on this list and one that is not.

A cheese cap is second. The original Cheese Cloud is 240 calories, which on a plain tea is more than the drink underneath it. Cloud Yumberry sits at 110 calories only because yumberry tea is so light to begin with.

Chewy toppings are third and they vary more than people expect. Sago is 110 calories, brown sugar bobo 80, crystal boba 60, and fat free boba pops just 5. The cheapest topping is not the lightest one.

The Sugar Level Does Real Work Here

Every published calorie figure on this menu assumes 100 percent sugar. The counter takes 0, 30, 50, 70 and 100 percent on any drink and charges nothing for the change, which makes it the only free way to move the number.

How much it moves depends on where the calories sit. Fruit teas carry the largest share in added syrup, so dropping to 30 percent takes a genuine bite out of a Crisp Grape Boom at 100 calories. A matcha latte barely shifts, because milk and matcha carry most of that count and neither changes with the setting.

There is a floor worth respecting. On milk and matcha builds, 0 percent tends to leave the drink tasting chalky rather than light. 50 percent is the practical minimum there. On fruit teas 30 percent works well, because the fruit brings sweetness of its own. Full detail on the sugar levels page.

Less ice does not help

This one catches people out. The cup is a fixed 16 oz, so asking for less ice puts more drink in the same space. You get better value and slightly more calories. It is the best value adjustment on the menu and the wrong lever if calories are the point.

Building a Light Drink You Would Actually Order

The plain teas at $5.49 are the floor and they are a perfectly good order. If they are not what you came for, there are three approaches that work.

Start light and add one thing

A $5.49 Jasmine Tea plus Light Cheese Cloud at $0.99 comes to $6.48 and roughly 150 calories. That is a capped drink lighter than most built in cloud builds, for less money than several of them.

Pick the fruit tea that is already light

Passion Fruit Blast at 70 calories, Yumberry Boom at 90, and the Mulberry builds at 100 are all real fruit drinks that happen to be light. Ordering one of these at 30 percent sugar gets you under most breakfast pastries.

Swap the topping rather than dropping it

If the chew is what you want, fat free boba pops give it to you for 5 calories. Nobody orders them, and they cost the same $0.49 as sago, which carries 110. That is a 105 calorie difference for identical money.

Every Topping Ranked by Calories

What This List Is Not

A calorie count is one number about a drink and it is not a verdict on it. Supreme Brown Sugar Bobo Milk Tea at 500 calories is a good drink. It is a dessert sold in a cup, and there is nothing wrong with ordering one knowing that.

The point of putting these numbers in one place is that HEYTEA does not make them easy to compare at the counter, and a 530 calorie spread inside one menu is worth being able to see. Use it to choose, not to rank the menu into good and bad.

The nutrition calculator totals any order, including toppings, against a 2,000 calorie daily reference.

Questions on This Guide

Jasmine Tea at 30 calories and $5.49. It is plain brewed leaf tea with nothing added, so it is both the lightest and the cheapest order on the menu.

Oolong Tea at 35 and Black Tea at 40 sit just above it at the same price.

14 of the 47 drinks sit at or under 150 calories at 100 percent sugar. 9 of those are at or under 100.

Nearly all of them are fruit teas or plain brewed teas. Once milk or a cheese cap goes in, a drink clears 150 almost automatically.

Passion Fruit Blast at 70 calories and $6.49. Yumberry Boom follows at 90 and Slim Boost Tea at 80.

All three sit far below the board average of 240 calories.

On fruit teas, yes. They carry the highest share of their calories in added syrup, so the drop is real.

On milk and matcha builds it does far less, because those calories come from milk. And on a plain brewed tea there is almost nothing to remove, since Jasmine Tea is only 30 calories at full sugar.

Fat Free Boba Pops at 5 calories for $0.49. It is the only topping that gives you texture without a meaningful calorie cost.

Extra Matcha at 15 calories is next. Sago at 110 is the heaviest chewy topping despite costing the same $0.49 as the pops.

Light Cheese Cloud at $0.99 adds 120 calories against 240 for the original. Half the calories and half the price.

On a $5.49 Jasmine Tea that gives you a capped drink at roughly 150 calories, which is lighter than most built in cloud drinks.

No, the opposite. The cup is a fixed 16 oz, so less ice means more drink and slightly more calories.

It is the best value adjustment on the menu and the wrong one if calories are what you are watching. Sugar level is the lever that works.
